Thanksgiving: that wonderful day of the year when we shamelessly stuff ourselves (see what we did there?) with turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, and every casserole imaginable. It’s a time to laugh, reminisce, spend time with family, and focus on why we are thankful! It’s also a great time to enjoy festive episodes of favorite television shows to celebrate the day.
Here are seven heartwarming, hilarious Thanksgiving TV episodes. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.
Friends – “The One with All the Thanksgivings”
Monica, Rachel, Ross, Chandler, Joey, and Phoebe reminisce about their worst Thanksgiving experiences in this classic episode. From Monica’s first ill-fated meeting with Chandler to Chandler’s parental woes to Joey and Monica getting a turkey stuck on their heads, the gang out-does one another with hilarious sob-stories in rapid succession.
The West Wing – “Shibboleth”
President Bartlet is embroiled in a hot-button predicament when a container ship smuggling almost 100 Chinese immigrants is intercepted, while C.J. agonizes over which turkey to appoint–and which to doom–for the presidential turkey pardoning ceremony. Meanwhile, the President assigns Charlie the daunting task of finding the perfect carving knife for Thanksgiving dinner.
Everybody Loves Raymond – “No Fat”
When Marie is diagnosed with high cholesterol, she and Debra hatch a plan to serve a healthy meal for Thanksgiving dinner, complete with a tofu turkey. To the ladies’ chagrin, Frank, Ray, and Robert aren’t exactly eager to partake of the non-traditional meal.
Family Ties – “No Nukes is Good Nukes”
After Steven and Elyse Keaton are arrested for participating in an anti-nuclear weapons rally, they find themselves stuck in jail on Thanksgiving. Alex, his siblings, and their grandparents debate whether to visit their parents in jail or have Thanksgiving dinner without them.
Gilmore Girls – “A Deep Fried Korean Thanksgiving”
Lorelai and Rory strategize how to attend four different Thanksgiving dinners, and Jackson hijacks Sooki’s dinner plans by deep-frying her organically-grown turkey. Drama ensues over Rory’s college applications, while “Human Kirk” tries unsuccessfully to adjust to life with “Cat Kirk.”
Home Improvement – “Thanksgiving”
The Taylor family is invited to spend Thanksgiving in the box seats at the traditional Lions holiday game. Chaos follows when Tim manages to black-out all the lights in the stadium.
No Thangsgiving TV list would complete without this Charlie Brown classic. Charlie and Sally Brown are planning to spend Thanksgiving with their grandmother–but not before the gang has their own Thanksgiving dinner at Charlie Brown’s house. Snoopy, Woodstock, Linus, and Charlie Brown throw together a meal for their friends … which includes none of the traditional food but all of the meaning behind the holiday.
Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Hollywood TV Experience!
